Obi-Wan Kenobi was a legendary Force-sensitive human male Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Republic era.
As a Jedi general, Kenobi served in the Grand Army of the Republic that fought against the separatist droid army during the Clone Wars. However, Kenobi was forced into exile as a result of the Great Jedi Purge.
As a mentor, Kenobi was responsible for training two members of the Skywalker family, Anakin and Luke Skywalker, both of whom served as his padawan in the ways of the Force.
Kenobi was born on the planet Stevens in 57 BBY. He was Force-sensitive, and was therefore taken from his family and inducted into the Jedi Order as a child.
Kenobi, who grew up in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, was assigned to the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
In 32 BBY, Kenobi attained the rank of Jedi Knight after defeating Sith Lord Darth Maul during the invasion of Naboo.
He also decided to train Anakin Skywalker—the predicted Chosen who was destined to destroy the Sith and restore balance to the force—promised to the Genie who died in a lightsaber duel against Maul.
With the advent of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, Kenobi adopted the military rank of High Jedi general in the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic, and was given command of the Open Circle Fleet, Third System Army, and 7th Sky Corps.
Clone Marshal Commander CC-2224 “Cody” served as his second-in-command in a galaxy-wide conflict in which his army won several victories over the Federation of Independent Systems.
In the midst of the war, his old foe Maul re-emerged in galactic affairs, intent on taking revenge against Kenobi for his debilitating defeat decades earlier.
Although they clashed in heated duels on several occasions, Maul failed to end Kenobi’s life or paralyze his spirit, despite killing his former love, Satin Krieze, Duchess of Mandalore.
In 19 BBY, Kenobi killed the separatist Supreme Commander, General Grievous, during the Battle of Utapau, effectively ending the Clone Wars.
He later survived the Great Jedi Purge’s initial attack against the Jedi Order, resulting from a conspiracy by Sith Lord Darth Sidious.
After discovering that Skywalker had turned to the dark side of the force, becoming Sidious’ Sith apprentice by the name of Darth Vader, Kenobi defeats his former Padawan on Mustafar and exiles himself to the Outer Rim planet Tatooine because The Galactic Empire came to power.
Adopting a hermit lifestyle as “Ben Kenobi”, he saw Luke, the son of Vader and Senator Padmé Amidala.
Ten years later, Kenobi leaves exile to save Luke’s twin sister Leia Organa, and the Inquisitor of the Empire and Vader himself follow. Later, Kenobi is once again hunted by Maul, whom he eventually kills to protect young Luke.
Kenobi begins the boy’s Jedi training in 0 BBY, and soon after encounters Vader on the first Death Star, where he sacrifices himself to ensure that Luke and his allies escape the Sith Lord.
In death, Kenobi became one with the Force that allowed him to continue guiding Luke throughout the Galactic Civil War.
In 4 ABY, Kenobi is reunited with his former student, Anakin Skywalker, who destroyed his Sith Master to save his son.
Kenobi was remembered as a great Jedi master during the rise of the New Republic; Ben Solo, the son of Luke’s twin sister, Princess Leia Organa, was named after Kenobi.
Solo’s turn to the dark side left Luke disillusioned with the legacy of the Jedi Order, and he held Kenobi responsible for Anakin’s transformation into Vader.
However, Luke’s faith will eventually be restored with the help of Rey, the granddaughter of Darth Sidious, to whom Kenobi will lend his voice and strength to the final B.

Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first episode of Star Wars forces us to endure the pain and suffering of Order 66 again.

When Lucasfilm first announced that Obi-Wan Kenobi would feature a rematch between Kenobi and Vader a decade after their duel over Mustafar and a decade before their duel on the Death Star, it seemed as though the showrunners would be interested in that conflict.
Save it for the end. But “Part III” is already there, and the stage is set for the second half of the series to be even bigger, even bolder, and even more cinematic from here on out.
